Euratex Horizon Europe mission to assist round transition

The brand new Horizon Europe project (CISUTAC), launched by Euratex and its companions, is working in direction of facilitating the round financial system transition with the intention of eradicating present bottlenecks.

Whereas the manufacturing and consumption of textile merchandise proceed to develop, so does the impression on the surroundings attributable to an absence of reuse, restore and recycle of supplies. High quality, sturdiness, and recyclability are sometimes not being set as priorities within the design and manufacturing of clothes, in response to the EU Technique for Sustainable and Round Textiles.

CISUTAC goals to take away present bottlenecks with a view to enhance textile circularity in Europe. The target is to minimise the sector’s complete environmental impression by growing new, sustainable and built-in large-scale European worth chains.

The mission will embody most components of the textile sector: comprising the 2 teams of fibres that symbolize virtually 90% of all textile fibres – polyester and cotton/cellulose – and specializing in merchandise from three sub-sectors experiencing most circularity bottlenecks (trend clothes, sports activities and out of doors items, and workwear).

CISUTAC will comply with a holistic strategy protecting the technical, sectoral and socio-economic facets of textile worth chain, and can carry out three pilot phases to display the feasibility and worth of:

•            Restore and disassembling

•            Sorting (for reuse and recycling)

•            Round clothes via fibre-to-fibre recycling and design for circularity

To understand these pilots, the consortium companions will:

•            Develop semi-automated workstations

•            Analyse infrastructure and materials flows

•            Digitally improve sorting operations (for reuse and recycling)

•            Increase consciousness amongst customers and the textile business

As a part of the CISUTAC consortium, Euratex will facilitate the Round Economic system transition, liaise with different tasks and initiatives, help the event of coaching and training materials, together with masterclasses and MOOC, elevate consciousness in Europe of the environmental impression of textile and supply enter for coverage, standardisation and certification to facilitate the transition to the Round Economic system.

Euratex last week urged more incisive action in tackling the energy crisis in Europe and stated insurance policies should be carried out immediately.
