Harvard Alumni Affiliation Pronounces Six Recipients of HAA Alumni Award | Information


The Harvard Alumni Affiliation introduced on Friday the recipients of its annual HAA Alumni Award, which acknowledges extraordinary contributions to Harvard via management and repair.

The award — first introduced in 1990 — honors six alumni this 12 months: Janet Nezhad Band ’83; David Battat ’91; Marion Dry ’73; Roger A. Fairfax Jr. ’94; Marlene Rehkamp O’Brien ’82; and Margaret M. Wang ’09.

This 12 months’s recipients have all remained engaged with the College as alumni. Band is a New York-based lawyer who has served as co-chair of the Class of 1983’s thirtieth reunion, an HAA elected director, and chair of the HAA awards committee. She has obtained Harvard’s Albert H. Gordon ’23 Award thrice for her management and generosity to the College.

Battat, a catastrophe aid volunteer and entrepreneur, presents alumni interviews to Harvard School candidates, a job he has held since his personal commencement in 1991. Battat additionally leads the HAA Committee to Nominate Overseers and Elected Administrators and serves on the Committee for the Completely satisfied Observance of Graduation.

Dry has participated in reunion planning and fundraising for the Harvard-Radcliffe Class of 1973 and sponsored a Harvard Kennedy College fellowship for leaders from Muslim international locations. She was additionally a member of the 1973 Reward Committee and co-chair of the category’ thirtieth reunion.

Fairfax, who now serves as dean of American College’s Washington School of Legislation, has been an HAA elected director, treasurer, alumni interviewer, and member-at-large on the HAA government committee. He has additionally sat on the board of the Harvard Membership of Washington, D.C.

O’Brien is a lawyer and author who has served as president of the Radcliffe Membership of New York and vice chairman of the Radcliffe School Alumnae Affiliation. She can also be an alumna interviewer and based a well-liked school speaker sequence as a member of the Harvard Membership of Boston board of governors.

Wang was the youngest HAA president, holding the function from 2018 to 2019. She has since served on the Harvard School Fund Associates Committee, the HAA Committee to Nominate Overseers and Elected Administrators, and the Workplace of the Arts Steering Committee for Strategic Planning.

The HAA Alumni Award seeks to acknowledge alumni contributions and encourage continued engagement with the neighborhood, whether or not via scholar golf equipment, donations, or participation in class or scholarship committees, in keeping with the HAA web site. Alumni of Harvard, Radcliffe, and the College’s graduate, skilled, and extension faculties are eligible for the award.
