Mountain Hawks Declare Three Patriot League Weekly Awards


BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a weekend during which Lehigh picked up its first victory of the season at Ball State, three Mountain Hawks have been acknowledged with Patriot League Weekly Awards on Monday. Senior Sarah Bonthuis was named Offensive Participant of the Week, junior Julia Gatelein was named Defensive Participant of the Week, and first-year Kiki Mes was acknowledged as Rookie of the Week.
 
All three contributed to Lehigh’s 3-1 win at Ball State on Saturday and the Mountain Hawks’ battle at No. 22 Ohio State on Sunday.
 
Bonthuis contributed two targets within the win over Ball State. She opened the scoring late within the second quarter scoring off a feed from sophomore Guusje Hogendoorn and added a second tally within the third quarter after dribbling by a number of Cardinal defenders and hitting a well-placed shot into the again of the cage.
 
That is the third profession weekly award and second Offensive Participant of the Week award for Bonthuis, who leads Lehigh with three targets this season and had a team-best 10 photographs over the 2 video games this previous weekend.
