3 arrested for promoting pirated books in Abuja

Operatives of the Nigerian Copyright Fee (NCC) have arrested three individuals in Mpape Outdated and New Markets in Abuja for promoting pirated books.

The NCC Director of Operations, Mr Obi Ezeilo, who disclosed this, stated the arrests have been made throughout an anti-piracy operation carried out by copyright inspectors and the police.

He gave the names of the suspects as Mr Chukwudi Okenwa, Mr George Chimezie and Alhaji Saidu Abdullahi.

He stated 221 copies of books with varied titles with an estimated market worth of N450,000 have been confiscated in the course of the operation.

Ezeilo listed a number of the impounded books as The Saint by Tade Adegbindin; Understanding Arithmetic, Books 1, 2 and 5 and King James Model and Revised Normal Model of the Holy Bible belonging to the Bible Society of Nigeria.
