King Tuheitia has challenged the nation’s political leaders to cease utilizing Māori and race points for political achieve.

The Kīngitanga delivered the message on the annual Koroneihana celebrations at Tūrangawaewae in Ngāruawāhia this week.

Kīngitanga Chief of Workers, Ngira Simmonds, says King Tuheitia challenged the political leaders to rise above populist rhetoric when discussing points corresponding to co-governance.

“The King believes our leaders must step up on this time of nice change and uncertainty,” Simmonds stated in a Kīngitanga assertion Saturday.

“Aotearoa stands at a crossroad, and our leaders must resolve what path to take.”
