Obama, Biden, Harris hit the campaign trail ahead of midterms

House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) says voters are experiencing “sticker shock” but that they shouldn’t blame President Biden and fellow Democrats.

Hoyer spoke to our colleagues Leigh Ann Caldwell and Theodoric Meyer for an interview that appears in the Friday edition of The Early 202. Much of it is focused on election administration, but Hoyer veered off into some other topics as well, including challenges confronting Democrats in the midterms.

“I think the voter has sticker shock, whether it’s gasoline prices or grocery prices,” Hoyer said. “But it’s a worldwide phenomenon, but the voter doesn’t see it as a worldwide phenomenon, what he sees it as is, ‘This is something that affects me. It’s gone up substantially since Biden was president therefore, I’m gonna hold Biden and his party responsible.’ That’s not an unusual phenomenon.”
