17 nabbed to help probe into riot at leisure outlet in Bintulu

SIBU (Oct 11): Police have arrested 17 suspects to help within the investigation into the riot and mischief incident at an leisure outlet at Jalan Abang Galau in Bintulu on Oct 9.

Bintulu police chief Supt Bartholomew Umpit stated the suspects, aged between 21 and 38, are all locals.

“All of them have been remanded for 2 days, pending additional investigation,” he stated in a media assertion.

He stated the case is being investigated underneath Part 148 and Part 427 of the Penal Code.

Of the 17 arrested, he stated 4 of them have previous prison information underneath Part 186, Part 148, Part 506 of the Legal Code and Part 4A(a) of the Widespread Gaming Home Act 1953.

Commenting on the incident, Bartholomew stated police obtained a report of a struggle on the leisure outlet in Bintulu at about 12.30am on Oct 9.

He stated the police, who rushed to the scene, discovered that a number of automobiles in entrance of the leisure outlet have been broken because of being rammed into.
