Three Koreans obtain prize for selling nation at Korea Picture Awards 2023

Three iconic figures that represented Korean tradition in 2022 had been chosen as recipients for prizes on the Korea Picture Awards 2023, together with a globally acknowledged actor and two Olympians.
The ceremony, hosted yearly by the Corea Picture Communication Institute (CICI), befell on the InterContinental Seoul Coex lodge in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, on Wednesday night.
CICI, established in 2003, is a corporation affiliated with the Ministry of Overseas Affairs that promotes Korean tradition overseas and does analysis on Korea’s worldwide picture.
“I first based CICI 20 years in the past as a result of I at all times wished to advertise Korea to the world,” CICI President Choi Jung-hwa mentioned throughout her opening speech. “It’s fascinating that simply 20 years in the past, nobody knew the place Korea was, and now everybody loves Okay-culture. I’m actually grateful.”

Actor Lee Jung-jae, who starred within the record-breaking hit Netflix collection “Squid Sport” (2021), gained the Korea Picture Stepping Stone Award, with the CICI praising the actor for his accomplishments, together with his directorial debut movie “Hunt” (2022) and for being the primary Asian man to win a Primetime Emmy Award.
Although he was not current attributable to being in the midst of filming abroad, Lee mentioned through video, “I really feel very honored to have the ability to promote Korean tradition to the world, and it means loads that it has gotten a lot love from foreigners.”
Olympic gold medalist determine skater Kim Yuna and swimmer Hwang Solar-woo additionally obtained accolades from the ceremony.
“Thanks for this award,” Kim mentioned upon receiving the Korea Picture Cornerstone Award. “It’s been some time since I retired [as a figure skater], however thanks at all times for remembering me.”

Hwang earned the Korea Picture Budding Youth Award after setting information, like changing into the third Korean swimmer to achieve the finals on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“I hope folks eternally bear in mind me as a swimmer,” Hwang mentioned.
