UM-Flint to host Kennedy Heart American School Theater Competition this week


FLINT, MI — Near 800 theater college students from everywhere in the Midwest will descend upon the College of Michigan-Flint this week.

The College of Michigan-Flint is internet hosting the Kennedy Heart American School Theater Competition for Area 3 from Wednesday, Jan. 11 to Sunday, Jan. 15.

It’s an annual competition that gives a chance for college kids to compete, have fun and find out about theater. There are eight regional festivals being held all through the USA. Roughly 18,000 college students take part nationally.

“I first attended KCACTF as a junior in school and it appeared magical; it opened my eyes to the totally different profession paths open to me as a theater main and the way massive the theater world was,” UM-Flint Chair of Division of High quality and Performing Arts Nicole Broughton-Adams mentioned in a press release. “I hope that our theater college students are capable of attempt new issues and take part in these occasions in ways in which assist them discover their area of interest within the trade, similar to it did for me.”

Awards and scholarships will likely be awarded in eight areas of theater all through the week: Arts Management, Design Expertise and Administration, Directing, Dramaturgy, Efficiency, Playwriting, Theater Journalism and Advocacy, and Theater Analysis and Scholarship.
