9 tasks win AIA Brooklyn 2022 Brooklyn Design Awards
Guided by the enduring Cutmaster Dc lyric “Hey good lookin’, you know you gotta be from Brooklyn,” the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Brooklyn) has chosen 9 winners of its 2022 Brooklyn Design Awards.
To qualify for an award, tasks needed to be positioned in Brooklyn or accomplished by Brooklyn-based architects or designers. Virtually half of the tasks are within the borough, and the remainder are as close to as Montauk and as distant as North Carolina and the Philippines. Every entry was judged on general design, innovation, environmental sustainability, social affect, and technical ability.
The five-person jury included The Van Alen Institute Senior Mission Supervisor Diana Araujo; Carnegie Mellon College Paul Mellon Chair Vivian Loftness; Studio Gang New York Design Director Arthur Liu; FX Collaborative Director of Sustainability Daniel Piselli; and ZH Architects Founder and Accomplice Stas Zakrzewski. The Brooklyn AIA selected architects and designers whose work focuses on sustainability to guage the entries.
“Brooklyn is a hotbed of tradition, trade, creativity, and ingenuity,” stated Jason Boutin, the 2022 Brooklyn Design Awards Committee Chair and accomplice at The Brooklyn Studio, in a press release. “Right this moment, it is likely one of the best-known place names within the world and this program is proud to rejoice these Brooklyn architects pushed by the values of the borough.”
