Rhona Hunter has been offered with a Clear Up Scotland Hero award by the environmental charity for her devoted solo litter choosing as a volunteer with ACE (Angus Clear Environments) via the Undertake-A-Road scheme.

The awards are offered month-to-month to those that have helped to make a distinction of their native areas.

A lifelong Carnoustie resident, Rhona has litter picked for round two years. As a hairdresser, lockdown resulted in her being unable to work and, whereas strolling round her native space, she observed an excessive amount of litter and needed to do one thing about it.

Over the course of her volunteering, she has picked up a complete of 63 and a half baggage of garbage.

She commented that in the middle of her collections she gathered an abundance of poo baggage and inspired canine homeowners to bin what they choose up whereas strolling their pets.

Rhona was offered along with her award by Hold Scotland Lovely CEO Barry Fisher, a part of which was a clean-up equipment from the charity’s companion Serving to Hand Environmental which features a new litter picker, handi-hoop bag holder, gloves and excessive vis vest.
Rhona voiced her concern on the results of littering on the world’s pure heritage, saying: “I’m happy to have acquired this award. I do what I do as a result of I do not like seeing litter damaging our ecosystem and our local weather.

“All of us want to alter our methods, take duty for our actions and get rid of our litter in a bin.”

Heather McLaughlin, campaigns officer at Hold Scotland Lovely, stated: “Individuals reminiscent of Rhona, who give their time to cleansing up their native areas, are true heroes.

“Over the previous decade we now have seen a gradual improve within the quantity of litter throughout Scotland. Nevertheless, regardless of the challenges we now have all confronted during the last 18 months we now have been heartened by the rising variety of individuals like Rhona taking motion to sort out litter throughout our lovely nation and hold it lovely.
