Carnival Cruise Line’s 2nd LNG-powered cruise ship christened

Carnival Cruise Line, a subsidiary of Carnival Company, has held a christening ceremony for its new flagship, a cruise ship powered by liquefied pure gasoline (LNG), Carnival Celebration.

The ceremony for the brand new vessel passed off at PortMiami on 21 November.  On 27 November, the ship, which may accommodate greater than 5,200 passengers, will start a rotation of week-long Japanese and Western Caribbean sailings.

Carnival Celebration can also be the second ship within the Carnival fleet, and the primary to homeport in Miami, with an LNG propulsion system, which is a part of Carnival Company’s decarbonisation efforts. It was delivered at first of the month by Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku.

“This naming ceremony of our new flagship Carnival Celebration is the right fruits of our 50^th birthday as this spectacular ship honors our previous and signifies the enjoyable and progress forward,” stated Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

The cruise ship will be part of sister Mardi Gras, which is the primary ship within the Excel class to be powered by LNG.

The third unit, Carnival Jubilee is scheduled to enter the service in 2023. Will probably be similar to the earlier two, utterly fueled by LNG. The vessel shall be based mostly on the Port of Galveston in Texas and can sail to the western Caribbean.
