Laredo Library to launch two books with Laredo connections this week


The Laredo Public Library is ready to host a pair of guide launch occasions later this week, debuting two books with Laredo connections. 

The library will host a pair of guide launches for border anthology “Apariciones, Voces, Ruidos, Cosas Inexplicables” and Gabriela Tijerina’s “Abuela’s Fideo:  A Story of a Grandma’s Love” on Sunday, November 20 at 1 p.m. and three p.m., respectively. 

“Fideo” is a kids’s guide that’s written and illustrated by Laredo’s personal Gabriela Tijerina. A graduate of United Excessive College, Tijerina additionally attended Laredo Faculty earlier than transferring to the Otis Faculty of Artwork and Design in Los Angeles. 

She created the story as a part of a time period challenge for a category on the faculty, with Laredo’s tradition serving as an affect within the work. 

The guide is concerning the story of Dulce Ramos, who launches a cooking journey after her abuela passes away. Coping with the loss, Dulce searches for a solution to recreate her grandma’s fideo, and discovers the facility cooking has to nourish physique and soul alongside the way in which.
