Building begins on Habitat for Humanity residence in Nolanville for disabled marine corps veteran

NOLANVILLE, Texas (KWTX) – Christmas got here early on Saturday for a Central Texas veteran and his household.

Dozens of volunteers started assembling the wooden body for the outside partitions for George Spruell and his household. The Fort Hood Space Habitat for Humanity graciously donated the house to the Spruells.

“Immediately we’re elevating partitions for a veteran,” Kristin Smith, Fort Hood Space Habitat for Humanity CEO, stated. “We’re right here to serve and that’s our mission.”

George is a disabled marine corps veteran now elevating his 4 grandchildren together with his spouse. Based on the US Division of Veteran Affairs, there are 33,136 veterans experiencing homelessness.

George’s spouse Vanessa Spruell stated they beforehand lived in Austin and struggled to make ends meet there.

“We lived in motel-to-motel, it was arduous for us to place meals on the desk over there,” Vanessa stated. “Austin was so costly for us.”

As soon as accomplished the Spruell women and their grandparents will transfer into the three-bedroom, two-bath residence. The house is adjoining to a group playground, good for the three women.
