Longtime Niagara promoter brings his therapeutic music to the stage

For years, Niagara Falls music promoter Rafik Guirguis has watched the bands and artists he helped from the aspect of the stage.

This time, the founding father of the Livestock Music Competition might be centre stage at The Warehouse Nov. 5 to launch his extremely private debut EP, “Tiny Cat.”

Guirguis says despite the fact that the EP is simply three songs, it has been 4 years within the making. It was prompted by the dying of his good friend, Niagara musician Jordan Rutledge, in 2018. Rutledge helped him placed on the Livestock competition in 2016 and 2017.

Guirguis says the EP was a part of his “therapeutic course of.”

“It was a mirrored image of questioning what the that means of life is, what the aim is, and after Jordan’s passing, the center music was a mirrored image of what I used to be going by way of proper after his passing,” he says. “The third music is a lot of the therapeutic strategy of how I used to be capable of pull myself out of all the things.”

The EP (and band) is known as after Guirguis’ personal cat, who would at all times “grasp round” when Rutledge came to visit.

“We’d at all times poke enjoyable at Tiny Cat and one another. It simply resonated completely.”

Guirguis began engaged on the music in 2018 with no concept the place it was heading. They had been simply musical concepts he needed to get out whereas processing his good friend’s dying.

“We acquired three-quarters of the best way by way of them and I used to be having a tough time discovering the motivation to complete the third (music),” he says. “Over time issues fell into place.

“It should have been the pandemic, I assume. It actually lit that fireside to get issues carried out.”

Regardless of his busy slate as a promoter, Guirguis says he’s placing the give attention to his personal music for awhile

“I’m a musician at coronary heart, I’ve at all times performed music since I used to be a child,” he says. “It feels actually satisfying to have the ability to categorical myself the best way I must.”

Which isn’t to say Livestock will disappear. The favored made-in-Niagara competition will return quickly, Guirguis guarantees.

“It’ll come again some day. I’m unsure when or in what type, however (my music) gained’t take something away from that.”

Guirguis might be joined on the Warehouse present by A Sea of Gold and Burgundy, The Trainwreck and Brandon Agnew.
