Celebrate Halloween with a variety of fun events | Nvdaily


Halloween is Monday, when trick or treating takes place, but here are some of the other fun activities being held to celebrate the spooky season. 

Strasburg

• Riverside Church will host trunk or treat from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Strasburg Town Park. There will be candy, a moon bounce and free hot dogs.

• Greenfield Reflections of Strasburg will host a drive-thru trick or treat from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

• Stover Funeral Home will host a drive-thru trick or treat from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday. Enter the parking lot from the Washington Street entrance.

Star Tannery

• The Cedar Creek Valley Ruritan Club will host a Halloween party from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Star Tannery Fire Department, 950 Brill Road. There will be games, a pinata and lunch will be served.

Maurertown

• Dutch Haven Assisted Living will host a Halloween trunk or treat from 6 to 7 p.m. today at 257 Toll House Road, Maurertown.

Toms Brook

• The Toms Brook Volunteer Fire Department will host a haunted house from 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5.

Woodstock

• Today is the deadline to register to participate in the Shenandoah County Parks and Recreation’s trick or treat from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday for ages 1 to 5 at the County Government Center, 600 N. Main St., Woodstock. Registration: 540-459-6777 or emailing scpr@shenandoahcountyva.us.

• Halloween on Court Square in Woodstock will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. There will be the traditional trick or treating outside of businesses, mask making, pumpkin painting, magic shows and several other children’s activities.

Edinburg

• The Shenandoah County Library will host a Halloween party from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Children are invited to wear a costume. There will be a Halloween story walk, petting zoo, treats, and more.

Mount Jackson

• Trick or Treating in Mount Jackson will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday.

New Market

• The New Market Area Library will be participating in the Town of New Market’s Trick or Treat from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday on Congress Street. Come by the library on Lee Street and get a treat.

• The New Market Merchants Committee and the Town of New Market will host its annual trick or treat on Congress Street from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday. Visit various downtown businesses who have left their light on for trick or treaters and you will leave with a special treat. Held rain or shine.

Conicville

• The Conicville Fire Department will host a haunted carnival from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the carnival grounds. There will be haunted woods, games with prizes, snacks, hay rides and a costume contest for ages up to 15.

Front Royal

• Warren County Department of Social Services and County Parks and Rec will host a Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the County Health and Human Services Complex, 465 W. 15th St. (track). Music, games, candy, costumes.

• Heritage Hall will host trunk or treat from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at 400 W. Strasburg Road.

• Hometown Halloween, hosted by the Town of Front Royal, Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Discover Front Royal and the Historic District, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Gazebo.

• Grace Bible Fellowship will host a trunk or treat at 3 p.m. on Sunday at 15 Faith Way.

Stephens City

• The Camp of Faith Church will host a trunk or treat at 6 p.m. on Saturday at 635 Double Church Road, Stephens City. Free food, games, moon bounce.

• Stephens City United Methodist Church will host a trunk or treat from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at 5291 Main St.

• Spirit and Word Fellowship will host a trunk and treat event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 1275 Tasker Road with candy games, hot soup, inflatables and hayrides.

• Stephens City United Methodist Church will host a free community trunk or treat event from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at 5291 Main St. in the back parking lot. There will be balloon animals by Michael Bulley, entertainment by Lolo the Clown and a youth fun house. The Stephens City Fire and Rescue Department will blare its siren at 2 p.m. to begin the event and again at 5 p.m. to conclude the candy give-away. Firefighters will show off their customized equipment and teach fire safety basics and kids will be able to have their photo taken with Sparky the Fire Dog. Costume parade at 5 p.m. The event will include 15 decorated vehicles parked in the lot adjacent to the church building at 1 p.m. The Newtown Heritage Festival and Toys for Tots will have representative booths for distributing candy. The church will also have a fall/Halloween backdrop set up for photos to be taken of kids in costumes.

Winchester

• Learn of the restless spirits from the Colonial and Civil War eras often seen and heard in the streets and historic buildings of Old Town Winchester from 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Monday. Guides will weave a tale of carefully researched history and true ghost stories. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Winchester-Frederick County Visitors Center. The cost is $10, cash or check only. The tour is limited to 15 people per hour. Meet at the intersection of Cork Street and the Loudoun Street Mall, in the area of the archway.

• Go trick or treating from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday along the North Loudoun Street pedestrian mall. Merchants will hand out candy to children.

White Post

• Macedonia United Methodist Church will host its first Halloween trunk or treat from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at 1941 Macedonia Church Road. Register to attend at https://forms.gle/zfaiutaqtiAcZ6x18.

Berryville

• Berryville Main Street will host historic and haunted ghost tours of downtown based off Michael Hess’ book “Haunted Clarke County.” Tours, which begin every half hour from 6:30 to 8 p.m. will be held on Friday and Saturday. Tours are $20 per person. Registration: https://tinyurl.com/2p98ctvt.

• Enjoy tricks and treats in Rose Hill Park from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Featured will be a pet and kid’s costume parade through town ending at the park, games, prizes and music.
