Gifted younger story-tellers acquire their awards at prize-giving
A countywide competitors during which youngsters had been invited to write down about their chosen heroes has culminated in a glittering awards ceremony.
The Kent Huge Writing Problem was organised and promoted by KCC’s Reconnect programme together with the KM Charity Group.

Award-winning youngsters’s creator Nick Butterworth, the person behind the Percy the Park Keeper books, was among the many company attending the awards occasion on the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge the place winners obtained a framed certificates and a commemorative ebook. The competitors was open to youngsters and younger individuals who stay or go to highschool in Kent and was divided into three totally different age classes: key stage 1 (years one and two main), key stage 2 (years three-six, main) and key levels 3 and 4 (years seven to 11, secondary).

The Key Stage Two winner was Lucy Hartridge of Sandling Main College, Maidstone, whose hero was Olympic skateboarder Sky Brown. The Key Stage Three and 4 winner was Heela Habib of Valley Park College, Maidstone, who wrote about Allah as her hero.
KCC’s Cupboard Member for Schooling and Expertise, Shellina Prendergast, mentioned: “I needed as many Kent youngsters as doable take up this problem and I used to be delighted by the response and bv the standard of so many entries.

KCC’s Reconnect programme was created in April 2021 to attempt to reconnect youngsters and younger folks with actions and alternatives that they had missed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
