3 in 5 ‘extra deaths’ in Singapore throughout COVID-19 pandemic attributable to the virus: MOH


SINGAPORE: Practically three in 5 “extra deaths” in Singapore throughout the COVID-19 pandemic have been immediately attributable to the coronavirus, and the rest have been sufferers who had died of different diseases inside 90 days of being contaminated.

In a report launched on Sunday (Sep 18), the Ministry of Well being (MOH) stated that Singapore recorded an estimated 2,490 extra deaths throughout the pandemic from January 2020 to June 2022.  

Of those, 1,403 have been Singapore residents who died from COVID-19.

The time period “extra deaths” refers back to the elevated loss of life charge throughout the pandemic, in comparison with the speed anticipated within the absence of a pandemic.
