Nominations are open for the 2023 Ottawa Heritage Awards


The Award acknowledges excellent achievements in heritage conservation.

The Metropolis of Ottawa is encouraging nominations for the 2023 Ottawa Heritage Award, which acknowledges excellent achievements in heritage conservation.

The applying interval for the 2019 to 2022 awards is now open and the deadline is Friday, Nov. 4, 2022.

There are two varieties of awards, these which are project-based, and one that’s for a group member/group.

Mission awards could also be introduced in seven classes:

  • Restoration: Returning a heritage useful resource to its authentic kind, materials and integrity.
  • Adaptive Reuse: Adapting an outdated constructing for a brand new goal whereas retaining its heritage character.
  • Infill: New building in a historic context.
  • Addition: New additions to historic buildings.
  • Authorities: Awarded to a restoration venture at a public sector property.
  • Heritage Grants: Awarded to recipients of funding underneath the Heritage Grant Program for Constructing Restoration.
  • Different: This class will change relying on the tasks submitted in a given 12 months. Tasks might embody engineering tasks (i.e. bridge restoration) or landscaping tasks (i.e. restoration of historic gardens or parks).

Some tasks might qualify in multiple class and tasks associated to properties owned by the federal authorities will solely qualify for the “Authorities” class.

Awards will probably be introduced in January 2023.
