Ringwood Carnival will go ahead ‘to celebrate the Queen’s life’

Ringwood Carnival 2022 will go ahead next Saturday, September 17.

Organisers of the event have decided to hold the event to celebrate the Queen’s life.

They say the decision was made after liaising with the New Forest District Council and checking government advice.

A spokesperson from Ringwood Carnival said: “At 2pm upon the firing of the maroon which signifies the commencement of the afternoon parade, we shall collectively clap for one minute as a mark of respect.

“Let’s join as one Ringwood, clapping united to celebrate the life of HRH Elizabeth II.

“Draw the strength from the light of her example and let’s celebrate life.

“From tomorrow night, we shall continue our build up campaign to Carnival day. We will not forget nor discredit that we are a nation in mourning.

“Finally, let’s agree on one point. We shall not all agree with our decision but let’s agree, that wouldn’t life be boring if we all had the same view.

“We leave you with one image from the Platinum Jubilee. Do not forget it.”
