Buriganga River Carnival held with pledge to cease air pollution

River conservationists on Saturday observe “Buriganga River Carnival” to advertise conservation efforts to make the nation’s rivers freed from air pollution.

Waterkeepers Bangladesh Consortium in collaboration with Buriganga Nadi Morcha (Buriganga River Coalition) organised the occasion Saturday (10 September) titled “Buriganga River Carnival: In Pursuit of Air pollution Free River”.

The carnival was inaugurated by the financial institution of Buriganga close to Muslimbagh Tower Playground within the Thota Gudaraghat space of Kamrangirchar.

Former adviser to a caretaker authorities and human rights activist Dr Sultana Kamal presided over the occasion the place Md Kamrul Islam MP of Dhaka-2 constituency was current because the visitor of honour.

Talking on the occasion, Sultana Kamal mentioned, “Saving Buriganga River is our ethical, civic and constitutional accountability. Everybody ought to be energetic in fulfilling that accountability.”

After the inauguration ceremony, a procession was organised with well-decorated boats.
