New Plymouth Airport’s terminal has received two design excellence awards from the New Zealand Airports Affiliation.
The terminal, Te Hono, was named medium-sized airport of the yr and medium infrastructure venture of the yr on the awards, which have been held on-line due to Covid.
The judges described Te Hono as an “iconic gateway for the area” and praised it for “giving life to the cultural narrative” of Puketapu hapū.
It sits on ancestral land of Taranaki’s Puketapu hapū, who labored with the venture crew, design consultants Beca and builders Clelands Development.
