Fireplace destroys Brooksville residence, no accidents reported
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Brooksville house is a complete loss after a fireplace early Monday morning.
Hernando County Fireplace and Emergency Companies (HCFES) responded to the fireplace within the 9,000 block of Sikes Cow Pen Street at 12:45 a.m.
In keeping with HCFES, a resident of the house referred to as 911. He was awoken by smoke detectors within the single-story, wooden framed residence. The person discovered a big hearth in his lounge.
The person and his spouse safely escaped the house.
HCFES was on the scene inside minutes and reported smoke and a heavy hearth. The hearth was extinguished inside 42 minutes.
The house is a complete loss. The Fireplace Marshall’s Workplace is investigating and the 2 occupants are being helped by the Purple Cross.
