Commissioner says Carnival J’ouvert incident-free; Police “in full drive” for street march this afternoon

By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has reported that this Carnival Saturday seems to be incident-free to this point.

“Carnival kicked off this morning with the J’ouvert throughout town. Many Belizeans from all throughout the nation got here out to witness the primary J’ouvert in 3 years. As was anticipated folks got here out in giant numbers as individuals and spectators,” he acknowledged through social media.

As anticipation builds towards the Carnival Street March, the Commissioner repeated his reassurances that “…we can be out in full drive to make sure the security of all of the individuals and spectators of the carnival.”

And to those that want to trigger mischief, the Commissioner warned, “…[you] can be taken into protected custody till the parade is over. We additionally urge most people to do their half to make sure your security by reporting [any] suspicious particular person or exercise to the police. Keep in mind your security is our precedence and [prevention] is all the time higher than remedy.”
