BATAVIA — The person who began at Batavia Excessive College about 95 years in the past and went on to guide the music division in a 37-year profession was honored Thursday night time with the dedication of the Frank E. Owen Auditorium.

Through video, Owen’s son, Jim, the “Mayor of Redfield Parkway, thanked the district for honoring his father, who got here to Batavia in 1927 and retired in 1964. Frank E. Owen (1899-1978) directed the orchestra and was appointed the pinnacle of the music division. Owen was liable for many musical firsts throughout the district, the district stated. The primary BCSD band was fashioned in 1930, and he based the Batavia Excessive College Choristers in 1935. He directed the primary college musical in 1937 and fashioned the primary jazz/swing choir within the Nineteen Sixties.
