Two teens among 43 nabbed in drug-fuelled party at Johor entertainment outlet


JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested 43 people, including two teenage boys, for participating in a drug-fuelled party at an entertainment centre here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the suspects were arrested during a raid at 12.15am on Sunday (Aug 21) by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department (NCID).

“The arrest consists of 33 local men, four local women, one foreign man, three foreign women, and two teenage boys. All of the suspects are aged between 17 and 61.

“The urine test also revealed that 21 local men and one local woman tested positive for drugs, including the two teenagers,” he said in a statement here.

ACP Raub added that the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for consuming drugs, which carries up to two years in jail or a fine of not more than RM5,000.

One of the local men, who is also the storekeeper, was arrested under Section 6(2) of the Johor Entertainment Places Enactment for operating without a licence, which carries a fine of not more than RM2,000, or jailed for one year or both.

“He is also arrested under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959 for hiring foreign workers without a permit.

“Three foreign women were also arrested under Section 39B of the Immigration Act 1959 for working without permits,” he said.
